Double salary every time. Money gives you options — you can leave whenever you want, travel, invest, or retire early. Happiness is a luxury for people who already have financial security.

Half pay doing what you love, without question. Life is too short to spend 8 hours a day miserable. I've seen too many wealthy Germans on antidepressants.

After what we've been through here, I'd take the double salary. You need a cushion for uncertain times. You can find happiness in small moments outside of work.

Honestly, with half pay I could still cover my needs and my family would understand. Hating your job destroys your mental health—I've been there.

Double salary. In India, money solves so many problems—education for children, healthcare, family security. Passion is a privilege when basics are covered.

This is difficult because both matter in Japan. But I think half pay with purpose is better than double pay with burnout and regret.
