A gift in cash or a gift chosen for you?

I appreciate the effort but let's be real—cash is always the right answer unless the gift is genuinely thoughtful. Most chosen gifts collect dust.

Depends on who's choosing. Random person? Cash. Someone who knows me? Their pick. But most people don't actually pay that much attention so cash usually wins.

Cash is just boring though

The thought behind a gift matters way more than the utility of cash. My grandmother gave me a terrible sweater once and I'd honestly rather have that memory than the money equivalent.

Give me cash every time. I know what I need better than anyone else.
