Retraining sounds great in theory, but who's actually paying for it? And will there be jobs waiting after?

Retrain them. A functioning society needs people to have purpose and work they can take pride in. UBI without that is just slow decay.

Pay them to step aside. Robots are getting smarter every year—there won't be enough "new jobs" for everyone.

Retraining works if the economy actually absorbs them. Otherwise it's just making people feel bad about being obsolete.

Invest in people. Always. Dignity beats handouts.

Why not both? Retrain the younger ones, dignified support for those who can't pivot.
